New Riddle

Here's a new riddle folks:

He left his own because of his need,
And joined a people of perverted seed,
This one had no intention in that land to stay.

But just as it happens to so many today,
Who leave the House of Bread in the world to stray,
In that perverted place death took this one away.

Now neighbor take yourself a good long look,
Back through the pages of this Blessed Old Book,
And tell me who these perveted ones might be?

Tell me too if you know,
This one who lived so long ago,
To die among strangers, just who was he?
